China on your own motorbike: a journey for the few
Our China & Silk Roads motorbike tour is something extremely exclusive and unrepeatable. The chosen route has its origins in a long and complex scouting operation carried out by Gionata, which led to the decision to share the enchantment offered by this country with those who travel with us.
To understand the complexity of this itinerary, one needs to understand that China is one of the most problematic countries to visit, particularly by motorbike, because of the restrictions imposed by the government authorities. We are able to offer this itinerary due to a profound knowledge of the country and the cooperation we have built up with local bodies: taking part in our China & Silk Roads motorbike tour is therefore a truly extraordinary opportunity for anyone who wishes to draw close to the culture and fascination of this land of ancient traditions.
Our clients can participate in the tour of the land of China riding on their own motorbikes, since we combine entry into China with the end of the route that takes in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. By this point we have already arranged for your motorbikes to be sent from Europe to Bişkek and can accompany the group of travellers along the asphalted M41 as far as the border with China: namely at the point where, from the Kyrgyz stetch of the road, we climb the Chinese mountains, which reach more than 7000 metres in height.
Once at the frontier, we are met by a Chinese government official, charged by Customs with the responsibility of welcoming us and carrying out the procedures for the import of our motorbikes, in accordance with local legislation. And so we begin our extraordinary adventure: twenty-two days riding only on paved roads, to discover the marvels of this country, admire places that are little frequented and still surrounded by mystery, with wonderful landscapes, and magnificent symbols of history and faith.
We shall reach the province of Gansu, spend the night in a tent in the Gobi Desert and learn of the irrigation methods of the cultivated desert areas. We shall visit the ancient monasteries and the caves of Mogao, a complex of more than 400 ancient temples excavated in the rock. We shall arrive at Xi’an, where the Terracotta Army was found, and several times we shall reach places, still riding on asphalted roads, where it is possible to walk on the Great Wall.
We shall be able to see the symbolic places of the Taoist faith and the Temple of Shaolin, before arriving at Beijing and preparing ourselves for our return: we shall send our motorbikes to Europe by ship from Tianjin, Beijing’s port. The tour includes the two shipments, going and returning.
Hi,
I am a Singaporean. I can appreciate how challenging it is to travel via Motorcycle in China. Have been doing some research. Though my initial thoughts were to travel via South of China, then exit in the West. How often do you run this tour? I am aware it takes 3-4 weeks.
Kind regards
When? how? how much? How manny?
